Hi! My name is Danique. Last year I finished my Graphic Design study at Landstede's Media Academy in Zwolle. The study took four years and had three internships. We started our half year long internships in the second year. My first internship was at Atelier67 where I got my first work experience as a graphic designer. I got to design mainly cards, posters and logos. During this internship I really worked on improving my InDesign skills. I thought InDesign was a difficult program before as we mainly worked with Photoshop and Illustrator in the first year but now it is one of my favorites.
Near the end of the second year/beginning of the third year, we had our first After Effects lesson. Which started my interest in animating. That's why I decided to look for an animation internship next to be able to work on my After Effect Skills and find out if animating is what I wanted to do in the future. I found said internship at the Zwolse Media Fabriek. Together with a classmate who also had an interest in animation we got to explore the possibilities animation has to offer. We were given a lot of freedom to figure After Effects out and laid a solid base for ourselves. After focussing solidly on animation for half a year, I was sure this is what I wanted to pursue. I found I was having way more fun and having an easier time coming up with cool concepts for animation compared to when I had to make a logo for example.
My third and final internship was at CCBusiness which is part of the Creatieve Coöperatie in Zwolle. This was once again an internship where I could solely focus on animation. I again got to work together with the same classmate as before and we developed a good workflow and style together. Where with the previous internship we had to figure out most things regarding animation by ourselves, this time we had a good mentor who was skilled in After Effects himself who really helped us refine our style and get better at animating. This time around we finished animations much quicker as we didn't need to learn the whole program along the way.
So in 2019 I finished my study and now I am looking for new opportunities to continue developing my animation skills.
